Artists Create Live to Raise Funds for Children Battling Chronic and Life Threatening Illnesses

NEW YORK - Nov. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- On Thursday, November 20, 2014, Art Of This World comes to Manhattan’s  new venue space, Pillars38. Illustrators, painters, tattoo artists, muralists, beatbox artists and a DJ are lending their talents to support  ArtWorks, The Naomi Cohain Foundation, a local charity which brings the theraputic value of the arts to thousands of children living with chronic and life threatening illnesses.

During the evening, artists from CA to NY, will create works of art right before the eyes of the guests.  Several pieces will be interactive that donors will get to participate in creating.  A live and silent  auction, conducted by Seth Watsky from Christie’s, with offer guests the opportunity to own an original piece of art, with all the proceeds from the sales going to ArtWorks.

“This fundraiser is sure to be a once in a lifetime experience with exposure to artists who are internationally known, delicious food, energizing music and the opportunity to support an organization that is changing young lives!” says ArtWorks’ Executive Director Daniela Mendelsohn. “Not only will people have a chance to celebrate the evening with friends and buy some incredible art, but the money will go to an important cause.”

Some of that incredible art is also in the form of pieces made be children who have participated in ArtWorks’ programs. The pieces reflect snapshots of life as a child battling illness. The children share, “it’s best to keep hope so you can stay strong” and “doing artwork in the hospital makes me relax.” The children’s pieces will be proudly displayed throughout the night with the opportunity to purchase them.   Also displayed will be auction items such as tickets to museums, culinary delights and city experiences.

All of the night’s proceeds will enable ArtWorks to expand and enhance its programs, allowing many more children with serious illnesses, and their siblings, to experience the healing power and joy of the arts. ArtWorks is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing children and young adults suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses, and the siblings of those children, access to creative and performing arts programs that encourage the use of the creative process as a vehicle for healing, communication, self-expression and personal development. ArtWorks seeks to empower, validate and honor these children by offering them the hands-on experience and materials with which to create, as well as the opportunity to publicly share their artistic accomplishments.

The event is generously sponsored by The Russell Berrie Foundation, The Kauftal Family, Laura and David Kaufthal, Fred and Gertrude Perlberg Foundation, Tamar Feder and David Greenberg, Nancy and David Gurfein, Kensington Vanguard National Land Services, Jillian Neubauer, Lisa Perry and Michael Smith with special thanks to Super Vision, Anheuser-Busch, Treat House, Starr African Rum, Paper Studio, TrueToniq, Tim Sullivan and Fresko.  Contributing artists include Ed Heck, Brooke Borg, Paul St. Savage, Jonathan “Duv” Zaragoza, Adam Suerte, Boy Kong, Greg Kalamar, Ariela Robinson and Rena Grosser.
