SAN FRANCISCO - Nov. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- San Francisco, CA – November 18 2014. San Francisco Dental Implant Center, a top-rated Bay Area dental implant facility, is proud to announce that their lead specialist Dr Alex Rabinovich has posted a new blog post on the website as to why it is essential to get a second opinion if one is considering dental implants.

Dr Rabinovich explains that most general dental practitioners still use x-rays in order to establish whether a patient is suitable for dental implants. In addition he sheds light on questions patients should ask concerning dental implant technology.

“Not all patients are candidates for dental implants, but the good news is that the vast majority of patients will be able to have dental implants if they wish,” said Dr Rabinovich.

San Francisco Dental Implants Advice
There are several ways of replacing missing teeth, and the traditional way is by the use of dentures. However, the majority of denture wearers are dissatisfied with at least one or more aspects of their dentures, the most common being that they slip and slide about when eating. Furthermore, they are still unable to deal with some foods such as corn on the cob, nuts, and more.

Another way of replacing a missing tooth is to have a bridge. However, this involves cutting down the teeth on each side of the missing tooth. In effect, what happens is that two perfectly good teeth are cut down in order to provide one replacement tooth. Many people would consider that this is not a good idea.

Dental implants, while being the most expensive choice, are as near as it is possible to get to the original tooth. A titanium screw is inserted into the jawbone, and over a period of a few months, the bone will bond to the screw in a process known as osseointegration. A replacement tooth is then fitted to the titanium screw. While the process of bonding is taking place, a temporary tooth is affixed to the screw.

Dental implants do not slip or slide, do not require any damage to other teeth, and should last for the lifetime of the patient.

At Dr Rabinovich’s San Francisco office offers, a state of the art 3D CAT scan technique is used which produces a complete picture of the patient’s mouth and jawbone in around 20 seconds. This gives Dr Rabinovich and his team of experts not only a 3D view of the patient’s jawbone, but also a cross-section view.

As a result, it is possible to determine the quality and density of the jawbone and whether the patient is a suitable candidate for dental implants. It also enables Dr Rabinovich to determine the precise point of placement for the implant, the correct type and size of implant to use, and ensure that nerves and sinuses are avoided.

This is a far more accurate picture than can be obtained using traditional x-ray techniques, and is why Dr Rabinovich insists that obtaining a second opinion from his office will give every patient the peace of mind that he or she is making the right choice.

Dr Rabinovich and his team offer the initial consultation and CAT scan to new patients completely free of charge.
