Follow on Google News | Wives Behind the Badge Notes Staff and Board ChangesBy: Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. Moreover, long-time Texas Auxiliary Director Jennifer (Jen) Montey stepped down effective November 5. In a statement from Jen, she shared that “it has been an honor working with everyone but in light of recent events over the last few months, I have decided it is time for me to resign from all positions held within the Wives Behind the Badge organization.” “We (the Board of Directors) regret that Jen has made what I hope was a difficult decision to leave her post as Director for the Texas Auxiliary. Her work and dedication on behalf of the Auxiliary, as well as her pride for law enforcement families, will be greatly missed. We have big shoes to fill in TX” noted Youngstrom. The Board of Directors voted to accept these resignations during a November 8 Board meeting. In addition, some changes were made to the current Board of Directors. Youngstrom noted that “as an organization governed not only by federal non-profit laws, but also laws in each state in which we conduct business, we must follow these guidelines and ensure we are good stewards. Because the state of Virginia requires a presence on the Board of Directors, Mendi Keatts has served in that role for four years. However, we must be cognizant of our volunteers’ schedules and, it is within the best interest of our organization, and in recognition of Mendi’s grueling schedule that she has graciously accepted the position of an advisory member of our Board.” Michelle Romanowski, Forums Director, has also accepted an advisory position. These positions are non-voting and will allow the Board to keep the talent of these women at-hand while allowing them to continue with Wives Behind the Badge within the positions best suited for them. These shifts in leadership have opened several positions within the Board and a variety of current staff members have already been considered as potential new members of the Board of Directors. An official decision will be made at the December meeting. WBTB is continuously seeking funding through private donations, corporations, police associations, and grants to help support its projects and programs.
