Follow on Google News | The Naples Players to Hold Auditions for "Oklahoma!"By: The Naples Players Two principal women ages 16-35 and two supporting women, (1) age 16-25, and (1) age 40-55 are needed. Three principal men (2) ages 16 – 25 and (1) age 25-35 are being sought, as well as two supporting men, (1) age 25-45 and (1) age 35-50. A large singing and dancing ensemble ages 15 - 45 w/small speaking parts will also be cast. Those auditioning will be asked to sing 32 bars of a prepared song using their own sheet music or a recording without vocals. An accompanist will be available. The Naples Players has a small library of show tunes, available on the second floor during business hours, 9 am to 4:00 pm. Those auditioning will also be asked to learn a choreographed movement or dance routine. Rehearsals begin January 12. Show dates are March 4 through April 4. Dennis Clark, an active director/choreographer at Venice Theatre will direct and choreograph and Dave Gipson will be the music director. Scripts are available at the box office for 72 hours perusal with a $20 deposit. With a score of unforgettable songs like “People Will Say We’re In Love,” “Surrey with the Fringe on Top,” and “Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’,” this classic celebrates a territory on the verge of statehood, people resolving their differences and the electricity and excitement of young love. The Naples Players’ auditions are open to all interested persons, regardless of age, race or experience. All that is required is the desire to be involved in a production and the willingness to commit time and effort to the project.
