NAIROBI, Kenya - Nov. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- On Saturday 15th November, 2014, ECO – MODE (www.mo-de.com) and girls from the Shining Hope for the Community (SHOFCO) (www.shofco.org/) took place in the Bizarre Bazaar Christmas Craft Festival at Karura Forest. Activities planned for the day included fun and shopping in the beautiful forest with over 80 craft and charity stalls offering traditional and contemporary goods and services. There were also be fun games and activities for the children, food court, live entertainment and DJ’s with on the spot prizes to be won for just being there!

Bizarre bazaar is exactly that: An event which hosts businesses that have stimulating, unique and creative products that are eco-friendly. Being our partners, ECO - MODE chose to take the girls from SHOFCO out to this event to experience a visit out to a natural-environment focused activity away from their normal environment. MODE also aims at exposing their young minds to thought-stimulating crafts ideas as well as encouraging them to interact with other children outside of Mathare.

Some of the amazing crafts being exhibited included cushions stuffed with plastic bottles, handmade soap stone Christmas decorations, wood carvings made from fallen branches and trees, chandeliers made of plastic bottles, cloths from natural fibre, colourful carpets made from waste materials, home decor made from dyed grass,  necklaces made from feathers and much more.

ECO - MODE and SHOFCO will next month, have a Christmas party at SHOFCO, Mathare with all 84 girls. Each girl will receive a personalised gift sing from their sponsors at MODE.
