New breed of singing sensations impresses coaches on “The Voice of the Philippines 2”

2013 TFCKat regional winner for Guam lands on Team Lea; More dreams are fulfilled during night five and six of the Blind Auditions

QUEZON CITY, Philippines - Nov. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- As the Battle Rounds draw near, more singing hopefuls joined each of the coaches’ teams during the Blind Auditions and became part of the highly-rating and twitter-trending singing reality show in the Philippines, “The Voice of the Philippines” Season Two.

The night five and six of the Blind Auditions, aired on The Filipino Channel (TFC) worldwide last November 15 and 16, Saturday and Sunday (November 16 and 17, Sunday and Monday Australian Daylight Savings Time or ADST, and New Zealand Daylight Savings Time or NZDT, and November 15 and 17, Saturday and Monday Guam time), added a total of 11 new artists who joined the teams of coaches Lea Salonga, Bamboo, Sarah Geronimo, and Apl de ap.

The latest addition to Salonga’s group of powerful vocalists is Philippe Go, a chemist who has had a huge passion for music since he was a kid.  He sang Wency Cornejo’s hit “Hanggang” which left Salonga in awe.  Another surprise for Team Lea is the four-chair turn performance of the 90’s singer/actor Nino Alejandro who sang “Highway to Hell” made famous by the rock band, AC/DC.  Alejandro left the limelight when he decided to run his own business but admits music is still his and his family’s one great passion.  He is the nephew of one of the Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icons Haji Alejandro, and cousin of sexy singer-actress, Rachel Alejandro.

Guam-based singer Charles Catbagan also impressed the coaches with his emotional rendition of the Brian McKnight hit, “One Last Cry.”  Salonga and Geronimo both turned their chairs and gave the vocalist a standing ovation for his performance that also trended on Twitter worldwide, but the artist chose to be under Salonga’s team.  Last year, Catbagan won the Guam leg of TFC’s global singing competition, TFCkat.  He is also a radio DJ at a local radio station in Guam and says he is in his element when he hosts.  The three artists will join other members of Team Lea which includes Jem Cubil, Miro Valera, Leah Patricio, and Timothy Pavino.

Coach Bamboo, meantime, also welcomed three talents in his Kamp Kawayan team.  Freelance singer Ramonne Rodriguez secured her spot at Team Bamboo when she sang her rendition of the Jaya hit, “Wala Na Bang Pag-Ibig?”  A student from Palawan (South Luzon, Philippines) tagged as Melai Cantiveros’ look-a-like, Shaira Cervancia also made it to team Bamboo with her performance of Top Suzara’s hit “Sabihin Mo Na.”  Former Mojofly vocalist and host, Lougee Basabas also landed a spot on Bamboo’s team aftershe delivered her own version of Sheryl Crow’s “Strong Enough.”  The three ladies will join fellow Kamp Kawayan teammates, Rence Lee Rapanot, Dang Del Rosario, Karlo Mojica, Tanya Ileto-Diaz, and Kai Honasan.

The Popstar Royalty coach also added two more singing talents to her team: 2004 TFC Popstar winner and Music Production student, Carol Leus after her sweet performance of “Tattooed Heart” made famous by Ariana Grande; and former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) and father Mark Douglas Dagal, who wants to fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a singer in the Philippine music industry and landed on Geronimo’s team after giving his rock version of the Stevie Wonder hit, “Superstition.”  With the addition of Leus and Dagal, Team Sarah now has eight members including Demie Fresco, Vanessa Monot, Monique Lualhati, Jason James Dy, Daniel Ombao, and Kokoi Baldo.

Coach Apl finally added three more singing talents who are joining Janet Cadayona, Bradley Holmes, and Mark Cando.  The Black Eyed Peas coach turned his chair for the jingle recording artist, Samantha Felizco after she gave her heartfelt rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Hurt.”  Mercedita Quiachon also made it to Apl’s team after her powerful version of Beyonce’s “Listen.”  Quiachon, who hails from Bohol (Visayas, Philippines), joined the show together with her younger sister but the latter was not able to turn a chair but says she is proud that one of them made it through the grueling blind auditions.  Strengthening team Apl is the addition of the viral videoke star, Alisah Bonaobra who sang Jessi J’s upbeat song, “Domino.”  Bonaobra became an overnight internet sensation when the video of her singing “Let It Go”  (by Filipino composers Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez) in a mall went viral.

With all four coaches finding almost half of their teams, find out who will complete the teams and move on to the Battle Rounds.  Stay tuned for another exciting and twitter-trending blind audition of “The Voice of the Philippines” Season Two airing on November 22 and 23, Saturday and Sunday (November 23 and 24, Sunday and Monday ADST and NZDT, and November 22 and 24, Saturday and Monday Guam time) on TFC worldwide.  Viewers worldwide can also watch the exciting continuation of the blind auditions via livestream or after its Philippine airing in TFC’s official online service, TFC.tv and via its video-on-demand or VOD (Internet Protocol television or IPTV) service available in the U.S.A., Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.
