Local Artist "On Fifth" Lands songs on Upcoming Maurice Clemmons Movie Soundtrack

SAN DIEGO - Nov. 20, 2014 - PRLog -- The story of Shereen Fahrai and Fedra Ramirez better known as recording duo "On Fifth" may not have been told if this organic singing duo was not brought to the attention of Music Manager Leon Youngblood. That credit goes to their Manager Melandrew Santos. You see, both are singers/songwriters, and happen to be very good. The problem is local recording artist are rarely afforded the opportunities that "On Fifth will be given before the end of November 2014.

Their singing careers got a boost when Melandrew Santos had a chance meeting with Music Manager Leon Youngblood Sr. Leon is a well connected talent scout with access to every major label in the United States. Youngblood stated "Drew, short for Melandrew, called me and was excited to share his discovery "On Fifth" with me. It took a while for me to finish up some other projects I was working on, but once I heard the girls sing live, I was completely sold on the group"

Youngblood was fresh off the heals of an exhausting visit to New York where he took meetings with music Icon Sylvia Rhone, President of Epic Records, Darrale Jones, EVP DEF JAM Recordings, Sony Music Executives, and other influential executives and music producers. Youngblood stated  "I was charged with trying to secure a record deal for the greatest poetess who ever lived Maya Angelou, I met with every label you can imagine trying to secure a deal for the album 'Caged Bird Songs'. After every major label passed on the project. David Helfant did a masterful job of succeeding in getting Oprah and essentially an army of  promoters and distributors involved, the team David assembled was amazing"

Talent is something Leon Youngblood Sr knows best, Youngblood  stated: " I am glad my schedule slowed down, it gave me an opportunity to be treated to a small impromptu concert by Shereen and Fedra better known as "On Fifth". These young 19 year old women sang and instantly gave me goose bumps, I am planning on including them on the soundtrack of the upcoming movie The Maurice Clemmons Story"

Sometimes being in the right place at the right time can lead to life-changing events. Shereen and Fedra will be meeting the man who discovered Mariah Carey and made over 2 billion dollars for Atlantic Records, they are scheduled to meet before the end of November later this month. Youngblood was quoted as saying "On Fifth is super refreshing, both girls are exotic, with captivating voices, hearing them sing their original organic heartfelt music takes you to a peaceful place, it's kind of like hearing a song that warms your heart and makes you think of good times".

Both are college students along with their manager Melandrew Santos, who is actually an engineering major turned music manager. All three are interconnected and the love of music is what spurs them on in their quest for being discovered. They could not have landed on more fertile ground with Leon Youngblood. A known deal maker an "go to guy"  in the music industry. Leon recently spoke to Pop Music Critic for the San Diego Union Tribune George  Varga, George wants a complete schedule of upcoming performances by "On Fifth" so he can promote the group to over 1 million SD Tribune viewers.

Getting music on a soundtrack is exetremely difficult, the songs that will be on the soundtrack when the movie is released are as follows: La Vie Urbaine Des Roses, and Money (If I had it). Mr. Youngblood assures me that the new material "On Fifth" just finished  will most likely supplant one or more of these songs.  Youngblood stated: "The girls are very diverse, the way they arrange songs and harmonies is mind-blowing, and they both play a mean guitar"

"On Fifth" is an acoustic duo is based heavily on vocal harmonies and acoustic guitars as the expressive vessels for two songwriters. They are largely influenced by Jazz, Classic Rock, French Chansons, Folk, Blues, and even Funk, and therefore, consider their style to be eclectic. On Fifth first began performing as a group by busking where 5th meets G in the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, California (which inspired the naming of the group). As street performers, the two members were able to ignore the industry’s obstacles for newly formed musicians and create their own performance space.

Both Shereen Fahrai and Fedra Ramirez have thrived from the exposure to cultural diversity. Shereen, a native San Diegan, was always exposed to the open-mindedness of the Californian culture and grew up amongst the two distinct cultures of Iran and Mexico. Fedra, raised during her early years in Mexico City, migrated with her family along various cities within The States to end up in San Diego (where she and Shereen met through participation in a theatrical production in their school). This exposure created in the two a sense of detachment from a sole culture. Id est, rather than become defined by a genre or restrained to a single language, they delve into music of distinct cultures (e.g. singing occasionally in other languages), and past time frames to compose/arrange music. In using these resources, they are able to weave through their compositions, arrangements, and performances a thread of their own personality thus, reinventing that which influences them.

The world is their oyster, and the waters are teaming with life. Their career or journey is a feel good story. I am pulling for "On Fifth" I have a feeling  they will land on solid ground, and forge their own path. Everybody who ever made it in the music business and in life always had someone walk them throught a door they could not normally navigate through.

With that in mind "On Fifth" has already overcome the biggest hurdle of all, they are connected to someone who can walk them through the doors, I look forward to seeing how far this group will go, I believe they will have a fantastic journey.
