According to Forbes, direct employment in the oil and gas industry rose 40 percent from 2007 through 2013, as compared to a decline of about three percent in the overall U.S. economy. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, healthcare-related businesses represent four of the top 10 growth industries. For the technology sector, Gartner’s worldwide tech industry outlook projected a growth rate of 3.2 percent significantly higher than the .4 percent increase in 2013. According to information distributed by Dice in August, Texas is seeing a 5.99 percent growth in the technology industry.
