Main Street Beaufort Hosts a Series of Holiday Weekend Events Presented by Subaru of Hilton Head

Nov. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- What better way to start the holiday season than with a weekend full of festive events? That’s just what’s in store for Lowcountry residents of all ages as Main Street Beaufort, USA will host a Holiday Weekend in downtown Beaufort. Presented by Subaru of Hilton Head, the Holiday Weekend events will run from Friday, December 5 to Sunday, December 7, and everyone is invited.

The fun starts at 6 p.m. and will last until about 9 p.m. on Friday, December 5 with the 29th Annual A Night on the Town. A true community tradition, A Night on the Town will feature the Parris Island Marine Corps Band, the City of Beaufort’s Tree Lighting Ceremony, and choral performances. It’s also said that there may be a visit from jolly old Santa Claus himself.

Downtown businesses will stay open late to welcome one and all with special treats and previews of the wide array of unique holiday items that will be on display. This year’s A Night on the Town will also feature an all-new Living Windows Display contest. All those attending the event will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite Living Window Display.

On Saturday, December 6 at 5:30 p.m., Main Street Beaufort and the Beaufort Sail and Power Squadron will conduct the Light Up the Night Boat Parade on the Beaufort River. The festive holiday boats will sail pass the seawall at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, and hot chocolate will be available courtesy of The Greenery.

The streets of downtown Beaufort will next be alive with holiday spirit on Sunday, December 7 as the traditional Beaufort Christmas Parade will delight both young and old alike starting at 3 p.m. Marching bands, floats, walking groups, and personal cars and trucks are all expected to participate in the parade.

The deadline for entries in the Beaufort Christmas Parade is November 21. Participation is free for military and government groups, $10 for non-profit organizations, and $20 for all others.
