Dr. John Mulqueen Earns 2014 Celebration of Excellence Communuity Service Award

GARDNER, Mass. - Nov. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Lowell, Mass. – John Mulqueen, MD has been honored with the “Community Service Award” at the 2014 Enterprise Bank Celebration of Excellence Awards.

Inaugurated in 2008, Enterprise Bank’s Celebration of Excellence celebrates the remarkable entrepreneurs, businesses, and community leaders who have achieved success, while inspiring others to excel. The Community Service Award honors and celebrates a local person who has harnessed the power of his or her assets, resources, and visibility to make a significant positive impact on their community.

“Through 13 years of providing free medical care to impoverished Fonde Fred, Haiti – and the inspiration and impact his pediatric work has had in and around his hometown of Gardner, Massachusetts – Dr. Mulqueen’s leadership and persistence have transformed the lives of people in two communities in two countries, making a significant and lasting difference in their lives and his own.,” said Enterprise Bank CEO Jack Clancy. “We are proud to honor Dr. John Mulqueen for the positive impact he is making in this world.”

The Celebration of Excellence recognizes individuals and organizations in the following categories: Educator of the Year, Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Community Service, Corporate Philanthropy, and Non-Profit of the Year. The 2014 award ceremony was held November 12 at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium.

His years of volunteering in Haiti led Dr. Mulqueen and his wife Paula to create Forward in Health, a non-profit organization with a mission to bring basic healthcare to the people of Haiti and to expose Americans to their plight.

“I am truly honored to be recognized with a Community Service Award from the Enterprise Bank Celebration of Excellence,” Dr. Mulqueen said. “My work in Haiti has reminded me of the reasons that I chose medicine as a career – not to make money, but to have the privilege to help others.”

Each Celebration of Excellence event is preceded by a nomination period. Anyone may submit a nomination, and any Massachusetts- or New Hampshire-based business or individual may be nominated. The award finalists and recipients are selected through a comprehensive review process by a panel of impartial judges.
