His diverse practice also includes work with a variety of matters related to premises liability or general negligence claims.

Additionally, he is experienced in defending claims under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) and the Defense Base Act (DBA). He has represented Jones Act employers, ship owners, charterers, and energy contractors in Blue Water claims, Brown Water claims and claims arising under the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act (OCSLA), which include limitation of liability actions and large scale maritime disasters involving the Oil Pollution Act (OPA) and U.S. Coast Guard Joint Command operations.

Mr. Schouest obtained his bachelor’s degree in Zoology/Pre-medicine from Louisiana State University (LSU) in 1985. He later obtained his law degree from LSU, where he was a member of the Chancellor’s List. He is licensed to practice law in Texas and Louisiana and is AV-Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
