Follow on Google News | IPB Pride of Place Awards to be streamed liveTomorrow (Saturday) night's 2014 IPB Pride of Place Awards will be broadcast live online, organisers have said.

Tom Dowling, Chairman of the Pride of Place Initiative, said: The "IPB Pride of Place Competition aims to recognise and celebrate the vital contributions that communities all over the island of Ireland make to their place. Now in its 12th year, this competition is regarded as Ireland’s most prestigious all-island community awards." "We are delighted this year's ceremony is being held in Ennis, which has a proud tradition in this competition. I am also pleased that IPB is once again the headline sponsor of the competition and that Co-operation Ireland, Ireland's peace building charity, continues to host these awards as one of its key community initiatives," Pride of Place Coordinator in Clare, Nicola Killeen commented: "The event will bring community representatives and local authorities from right throughout the island of Ireland to Ennis and will not only help to showcase the county to a national audience, but will also provide a much welcome boost to local tourism. We are particularly delighted that this year's ceremony will be streamed live to a national and international audience.” 50 groups nominated by local authorities all over the island of Ireland are participating in this year's 2014 IPB Pride of Place competition. The main category winners in 2013 included Clogher le Chéile (Donegal), Donaghmoyne (Monaghan), Kilcummin (Kerry), Miltown Malbay (Clare), Kilmore Quay (Wexford), Horseleap / Streamstown (Westmeath), Megargy and District Game & Conservation Society Magherafelt (Derry), Ballina (Mayo), Valenria Island (Kerry), Castleview Residents Association (Limerick), Waterford County Comhairle na nÓg, Beara Breifne Way (Cork) and St Christopher’ The categories in this year's competition have been expanded to include Eco Community Initiative, Community Innovation, Community Health Initiative (Theme Categories), Housing Estates, Population Categories up to 250 people, between 250-750 people, between 750 – 1,500, between 1,500 – 4,000 people, and in excess of 4,000, Islands & Coastal Communities and urban neighbourhoods. The 2014 IPB Pride of Place Awards will be broadcast live on www.prideofplace.ie and www.clare.ie from 7.30pm on Saturday, 15 November 2014. End
