L.A. Wolves FC and Mexico’s Morelia U-20 Put on a Goal Scoring Display at Coleman Stadium in Inglewood

TORRANCE, Calif. - Nov. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- November 13, 2014 – The L.A. Wolves FC (www.LAWolves.com) battled to a 4-4 draw in the clubs first International Friendly match versus Mexico’s Morelia Monarcas U-20. The two clubs meet Wednesday night at Coleman Stadium in Inglewood, Ca and put on a show for the fans who were treated to a night of offensive surge with both teams scoring a total of eight goals.

Morelia, a Mexican professional football (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_football) club based in Morelia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morelia), Michoacán (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michoac%C3%A1n), currently playing in the Liga MX (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liga_MX) showcased their U-20 squad against the LA Wolves who were a unknown commodity to Morelia until last night. The Wolves took the lead in the first half on a goal in the 21’ minute on well hit shot from just inside the top of the box by L.A. Wolves Malian Midfielder Sory Keita who hammered home a shot that was assisted by Wolves English Midfielder Rhys Hoenes. The lead did not last long as Morelia came back to tie the game scoring a goal with less than a minute to go before the halftime whistle sending both teams into the locker room tied 1-1.

The second half was electric and full of energy as both team combined for six goals with the lead exchanged several times. The Wolves would end up getting a hat trick, three  goals, from Midfielder Rhys Hoenes in what would be a fitting way to end his stay in America as the Wolves Midfielder played his last game with the Wovles. Hoenes will be heading back to England this coming Sunday as a contract opportunity with a local club in England had developed over the past few weeks and Hoenes has decided to move back to his homeland to pursue that opportunity. The Wolves will miss Hoenes as he has been a mainstay in the midfield the past three months. Hoenes capped the night with a game tying penalty kick after being taken down in the box giving the Wolves a well deserved point in a hard fought match agasint a quality Mexican club.

In goal, the Wolves used two keepers in the friendly with Wolves Goalkeeper Edjuardo Ciriaco getting the start in the first half holding Murelia to just one goal and then the Wolves brought in newly signed Goal Keeper Kifi Cabrera who played an outstanding second half keeping the Wolves in the game as Morelia pushed hard to get the win.

Yan Skwara President/GM of the L.A Wolves FC. “I am very pleased with the effort the boys put in tonight as they could have easily folded up and taken a beating but they decided to fight and go for the win. It was a game of character as the field was very rough and so a lot came down to sheer fight and I tip my hat to our entire squad as we played with heart which is what I told them in the locker room after the game. Morelia is a very good side with quality players so these are the type of games that takes our game to a different level which is what this is all about.”
