Swain Techs Appraised at CMMI Maturity Level 3 for Software and Services

HORSHAM, Pa. - Nov. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Horsham, PA — Swain Techs is pleased to announce that it has been appraised at Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level 3 on Software and Services by the CMMI Institute at Carnegie Mellon University.

There are currently only 33 Software and Service companies apprised at CMMI Maturity Level 3 v1.3 in the world. Additionally, Swain Techs is the only SBA 8(a) Certified company with these qualifications in the 48 contiguous United States, joining only 2 other companies, both based in Alaska.

CMMI® is a results-oriented capability improvement methodology that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance by reducing defects, re-work, overall cost and improve delivery time and quality. Targeting three main areas, development, services, and acquisition, CMMI helps businesses set the framework for improving their performance. After beginning to use CMMI, General Motors increased their milestones met to 85% and Tufts Associated Health plans decreased software defects by 25%. Overall, businesses have seen a 61% increase in productivity and 48% increase in quality, resulting in an overall ROI of 4:1.

An appraisal at maturity level 3 indicates the organization is performing at a “defined” level. At this level, processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in standards, procedures, tools, and methods.
