LONDON - Nov. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- For CoCo Deparis, a set of ideas with a story and thought connect jazz, where imagery and words give reality and presence. Modern-day Jazz is hybrid, synthesising and combinatory—Deparis shows why voice is an important element of jazz, by seeking expression with a distinctive quality and recognisable character.

Though Jazz is based on two structures and performed on a limited number of instruments, Deparis invents a musical statement in space and moment. In What The Hell, Deparis creates recognisability and drama for the song by carefully choosing rhythmic value. A jazz lover could empathise with Deparis, who considers jazz a distinct musical art, with competing claims of harmony, melody and rhythm. Musicians refer to the rhythmic pulse as time, and jazz typically has patterns of four beats, but enjoying Deparis’ composition requires following the twists and turns of musical ideas, while registering their interaction. Sometimes she deliberately manipulates her voice to console, command, shout or whisper. At the same time, she reveals her emotions—anger, exhaustion, fear and love. Through timbre variation, she attains stylistic individuality.

Why Don't You Do Right by Joseph Kansas Joe McCoy inspires What The Hell. In a recent version of the song, Jessica Rabbit, in the movie Roger Rabbit, persuades her man to do right, like some other men do, by bringing her money. Though What The Hell has the same opening lyrics, as a tribute to the original song, Deparis narrates a story with unique plot, and a closing that leaves the audience in awe. Like in a thriller, Deparis steps into the shoes of a “bad ass” character, living the high-life, financed by a wealthy partner. Deparis laughs about the performance, also inspired by burlesque artist Dita Von Teese, as the thought of an easy life is only déjà vu to many. The moral of the story—life is a symbiotic relationship—is what leaves the audience wanting for more.

Produced by Ale Valdes and recorded at Sohosonic Studios, Soho, London, What The Hell, the first single from the album CoCo Deparis Take One, debuts worldwide.
