KINGSTON, Mass. - Nov. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Sacred Heart School (www.sacredheartkingston.com), a private, Catholic, co-educational school for students in preschool through grade 12, will present “Shrek the Musical” on November 21, 22 and 23 at the Sacred Heart High School Auditorium.

The cast and its director, Theatre Coach/Drama Director Daniel Sapir, have been hard at work for more than two months preparing for this upcoming musical performance. “This is a big costume show,” said Coach Sapir, who said that the dress rehearsals in full costume are now taking place every afternoon at the school in anticipation of the opening performance. The school will also use a spotlight during the performance for increased dramatic effect, the first time one has been used in a decade.

Shrek offers a story line that is sure to please all in attendance. It begins with Lord Farquaad, the comically short-in-stature, ruthless ruler of Duloc. In his pursuit of perfection, he attempts to rid his Kingdom of Fairy Tale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairy_Tale) creatures, offering a bounty for their capture and then exiling imprisoned creatures to Shrek (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrek_(character)'s swamp. But because Farquaad is not of royal stock, he cannot become a king (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King) until he marries a princess. He sets his sights on Princess Fiona (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Princess_Fiona), believing she will be the perfect wife and queen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_consort), but she first must be rescued from her tower which is guarded by a fire-breathing dragon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Shrek_characters#Dragon). What happens from that point on will all be portrayed by a carefully-chosen cast who have been practicing their roles for the past several months for their November 21 delivery.

The Friday, November 21st and Saturday, November 22nd performances will be held at 7 p.m.; the Sunday, November 23rd performance is slated at 2:30 p.m.
