One-Minute Films From Spain & Portugal Win Even More Prizes Post Filminute 2014

4 million viewers are now afraid to look under their own beds after seeing the award-winning thriller TUCK ME IN (Spain).

LONDON - Nov. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- London/Bucharest/Toronto – CineCoup, the Canadian film accelerator, added its name to the growing list of sponsors, media and fans handing out awards and kudos to Ignacio F. Rodó for his film TUCK ME IN (Spain).

CineCoup awarded their annual prize to Rodó’s film for “the level of tension it achieves, the emotional response it draws out of the audience, as well as the deeper story it sets up.”

TUCK ME IN had already won “Best Filminute,” the Filminute festival’s top award. The film gathered impressive international attention and momentum with mentions and reviews in publications such as Fast Company, Gizmodo, Buzzfeed, and Huffington Post. The film has generated over 4 million views on YouTube and Vimeo.

For Rodó, it’s more exciting news. “Winning Best Filminute was very special. Now to be awarded by a film funding platform like CineCoup is, for us, an important recognition of the work we put into this film and an honour that makes us very happy.”

Cineuropa Shorts, promoters of the European short film industry, selected five European films to compete for the Filminute Cineuropa Audience Award. Films from Finland, Portugal, Bosnia and Herzegovina/Qatar, Netherlands, and the UK were put to the audience to vote.

Portuguese director André Marques’ film GRANDPA was ultimately the winner of Cineuropa’s award. His film delivered a touching commentary on fatherhood, a topic that proved to be very popular with audiences internationally.

“We’re very pleased to have won another audience award, especially from Cineuropa, one of the biggest supporters of European cinema,” said Marques.  “It proves that simple, short stories can also be striking and move people.”

GRANDPA also won the Filminute People’s Choice Award as well as a Jury Commendation at Filminute 2014, making it one of the most awarded films in Filminute’s history.

The Filminute festival and competition is propelled by social media. Audiences participate from over 100 countries making it one of the most accessible film festivals in the world for both filmmakers and film fans.
