DeKalb Commissioner Stan Watson Joins the Board of Directors for DeKalb Community Service Board

 
DECATUR, Ga. - Nov. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- The Board of Directors of DeKalb Community Service Board (DeKalb CSB) today announced the appointment of DeKalb County District 7 Commissioner Stan Watson.  DeKalb CSB is a public nonprofit organization that provides evidence-based behavioral health and developmental disability services to individuals in need.

“I have served on the DeKalb CSB Advisory Board for over 10 years and have been a champion for community service boards throughout the state of Georgia,” said Commissioner Watson.  “Community Service Boards provide a very much needed service, not only to my constituents, but to all of the citizens of DeKalb County and the State of Georgia.  As an active member of the Board, I am excited to bring access to information, build awareness and to facilitate relationships to support the great work of the organization.”

Commissioner Watson is a dedicated and proven leader who has served DeKalb County in volunteer and in elected positions for over thirty (30) years. He is a former member of the Georgia General Assembly, serving for twelve (12) years. He is the former Chairman of the DeKalb House Delegation and the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus.

Commissioner Watson serves Super District 7 with distinction and is committed to achieving strong communities, open and honest government “For A Better DeKalb.” He is the Deputy Presiding Officer for the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners and is the Chairman of the Public Works Committee (PWC) providing leadership to DeKalb County’s Capital Improvement Projects and oversight of the Federal Consent Decree.

In addition to his position on the DeKalb CSB Board of Directors, the Commissioner is a Board Member for the Community Achievement Center.  In addition, the Commissioner serves on the Planning and Economic Development (PED) and Employee Relations and Community Services (ERCS) Committees.  The Commissioner’s appointment expands the DeKalb CSB Board to 12 directors.

DeKalb CSB is a public, nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of evidence-based behavioral health and developmental disability services.  Through more than 20 locations across DeKalb County, DeKalb CSB serves more than 10,000 children, adolescents and adults annually to help them recover and resume productive lives.  DeKalb CSB employs more than 500 staff, and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
