HAMILTON, N.J. - Nov. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Close to 200 supportive community members, government officials and volunteers helped celebrate the 20th Anniversary of local nonprofit Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County (ICGMC) on October 23rd.  Held at the Hyatt Regency in Princeton, the organization’s 7th Annual Shining Lights Award and Recognition Event raised close to $25,000 that will help ICGMC’s 300+ volunteers continue providing free caregiving assistance to more than 400 homebound elderly and people with disabilities.

Honorees included Dr. Teena Cahill, Director of Wisdom and Beyond, LLC, and a longtime advocate regarding issues of family living, mental health and wellness education; Nancy W. Kieling, President and CEO of the Princeton Area Community Foundation, which provides more than $7 million per year to deserving nonprofits; The Very Reverend René R. John, the Dean of Trinity Cathedral in Trenton and former ICGMC Board member; the Princeton Area Community Foundation, a nearly $100 million foundation serving central New Jersey; Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., which makes charitable contributions to advance the health of its patients and its communities; and The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation's largest philanthropy devoted solely to the public's health.

“What better way to celebrate a 20th anniversary than to be surrounded by the warmth and love of friends and supporters who share a commitment to helping their fellow citizens,” says ICGMC Executive Director Jane Latini. “This evening was a time for us to pause a moment from the important work we do – to honor Interfaith’s founders, supporters and leaders, and to reflect on our organization’s past history, as well as the almost overwhelming need for our caregiving services in the future. It was a beautiful and poignant evening!”
