Follow on Google News | Houston Celtic Festival and Highland Games Tickets to be Donated to Non-ProfitsThe Houston Highland Games Association has announced it partnership with Texas TicKids to provide free to tickets to the area’s needy children.
Texas TicKids is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that accepts unused concert, sporting event and other activity tickets and makes them available to their vetted list of non-profits providing services to children. Last year HHGA made 350 tickets available through the generosity of sponsors of the Festival’s children’s area. The children enjoyed putt putt golf, arts & crafts, storytelling and music. Each child received a Celtic Passport to get stamped at all the society and clan tents with a special treat at the end of their journey courtesy Walkers Shortbread. While the grownups are participating in the traditional Scottish athletic competitions, the children have their own wee competition with egg and spoon races, sack races, weight tosses and even their own scaled to size caber. Older children participated in Renaissance martial arts sword play under the guidance and instruction of the Association of Renaissance Martial Arts. Sponsorship contributions to the Festival children’s area includes a contribution of Festival tickets to Texas TicKids.
