Local Bakery Raises Funds For Adoption Effort

HOLLAND, Mich. - Nov. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Second Floor Bakery announces “Cupcakes For A Cause” an event to be held on November 15 and 22, 2014 to help raise funds for a family wanting to adopt a little boy from Niger, Africa. All proceeds from cupcakes sales on these dates will go directly towards the adoption effort.

Katie Webster, the owner of Second Floor Bakery, has a personal reason for leading the fundraiser. “We’re holding this event to help my sister Amy and her husband Eric Ostrander. They have already adopted my nephew, Levi from Africa in 2012,” shares Webster. “They have tried to adopt two other children in the last two years as well. Unfortunately, because of the lengthy process involved in adoptions in Africa, both boys died while waiting to come home. It was heartbreaking for our family.”

Katie and her husband Pete are also adoptive parents themselves. The Websters adopted two children, a brother and sister, in October after caring for them as foster children. “Our children are excited to help their aunt and uncle bring their son Ezra home from Africa. They know what it means to have a ‘forever’ home and they were thrilled when we told them we were going to do a fundraiser through the bakery to help out,” shares Pete Webster.

The bakery hopes to sell over 3,000 cupcakes for the fundraiser. Pre-orders are recommended, but customers are also welcome to just stop in to the bakery at 48 East Lakewood Blvd. in Holland as well. Donations towards the family’s adoption efforts may also be dropped off at Second Floor Bakery anytime between now and the end of November. The bakery is open Tuesday – Friday from 8AM – 3 PM and Saturday from 9AM – 3PM.
