Supporting the Arts in Rochester Since opening in 2007, the Rochester Academy of Music & Arts has grown into a major community institution. According to Academy owner Brannon Hungness, “My musical career has taken me all over the world, and I’ve had the opportunity to experience the arts culture of many major cities. Even still, Rochester remains a highlight.” Hungness continues, “I’m proud and honored to be contributing to such a rich local culture.” Inspiring young students to appreciate the arts was a major impetus in Hungness opening his own school. So he jumped at the opportunity to partner with the Memorial Art Gallery-- one of the nation’s foremost arts institutions. “Like music, the visual arts provide an outlet for young people to express themselves, which is so important,” Hungness states. “This holiday season, I want to celebrate all the opportunities Rochester has to offer. It’s an amazing place to grow up. Our wonderful students are proof of that.” About the Rochester Academy of Music & Arts The Rochester Academy of Music and Arts, located at 161 Norris Drive, is Rochester’s largest family-owned and family-oriented music school. In 2014, the Academy was the recipient of a national award for music school excellence. The Academy has been featured by many news outlets, including the Democrat & Chronicle, Parent Magazine, News10, In Good Health, City Newspaper, Freetime Magazine, and more. It was founded by Hungness in January of 2007, starting with only 14 students. In just seven years, it has grown into a major presence, boasting over 300 students, 20 teachers and an office staff.
