ALAMEDA, Calif. - Nov. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- ALAMEDA, California – November 11, 2014, SmartphoneCorner.com (http://www.smartphonecorner.com), a web site that provides news, tips, and reviews on Smartphones and mobile apps, has released a list of Top 10 Smartphones (http://www.smartphonecorner.com/uncategorized/top-10-smartphones-for-the-holiday-season/) that you can buy this holiday season. With the major manufacturers including Apple, Google, Samsung, Motorola, LG and Nokia announcing new smartphones, there are a lot of choices. Apple iOS and Android smartphone devices are dominating the market. Microsoft with its new Windows Phone 8.1 OS is trying hard to catch up.

Smartphone screen sizes are getting bigger. Big screen smartphones have even earned an unofficial category name, “Phablets”.  Apple, Google, and Samsung are the top competitors in this category with their iPhone 6 Plus, Nexus 6, and Galaxy Note 4 models respectively. Google Nexus 6 has the biggest 6-inch screen, followed by Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with a 5.7-inch screen, and then the iPhone 6 Plus, which has a 5.5-inch screen. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 comes with a stylus to help you in typing quickly. Newer smartphones have faster processors, more memory, and better screen resolutions. Google Nexus 6 even comes with a dedicated GPU (Graphics Processing Unit).

Among the smartphones with normal screen sizes, Motorola X has received very good reviews. It has a unique “Moto Voice” feature, which utilizes an always-switched on microphone, and  it can follow your commands or answer your queries just like Apple’s “Siri” or Google’s “Google Now” service. Apple has also announced its new Apple Pay service in conjunction with the launch of its new smartphones. Using the Apple Pay service, which works hand-in-hand with Apple’s fingerprint recognition “Touch ID” feature, you will be able to make an instant payment in a retail store without having to open any application on your smartphone. This feature works using the Near Field Communications (NFC) antennae built on your smartphone.  All the new innovations and features will cost you money. Apple’s iPhone 6 plus is priced at $749, while the Google Nexus 6 is priced at $699.
