PALM COAST, Fla. - Nov. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- The Flagler Economic Enhancement District (FEED), a coalition of Flagler County, the City of Palm Coast and the City of Bunnell,  will hold a community educational workshop on the topic of brownfields and enrollment in the brownfields program Monday, December 1st at the Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy NE in Palm Coast, Florida.

This workshop will address the Brownfields Program funded by $600,000 EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) petroleum and hazardous substance assessment grant awarded to the coalition to be used to offset the cost of Phase I and Phase II site assessments of qualifying properties of interested property owners.  Participation in the program is voluntary and the property owner may withdraw at any time.

The workshop will be held at 6:00 pm on Dec. 1st at the Palm Coast Community Center with a presentation about the details of the grant. A Q&A will follow and light refreshments will be provided.

A brownfield is a real estate property where future development or use is affected by real or perceived environmental contamination. They are typically commercial or industrial sites that are underutilized or in disuse, not achieving the highest and best use for the owner or the community.
