NEW YORK - Nov. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Win this contest, and you will travel to Florida to help Teachers in Space, Inc. (TIS) and Final Frontier Design (FFD) test the first multi-purpose commercial spacesuit, made in Brooklyn NY.  In April 2015, members of Teachers in Space, Inc. and the contest winner will board a twenty parabola Zero-G flight to test FFD’s 3G spacesuit, with pressure garment, fire proof garment, anti-g pants, and a biosensor system during a Microgravity Research Week event near Kennedy Space Center.

Applicants must write an essay on “Why Space and Science Education Matter”, as well as answer some questions about their physical fitness and personal commitment to space exploration and education.  Applications close December 31, 2014.  All entrants receive an official SpaceSuit Operation Manual available only from FFD.  There is a $250 entry fee.  Proceeds support Teachers in Space's participation in the spacesuit testing. Applicants can submit their entries at www.teachers-in-space.com.

“This is a great opportunity for teachers to help test new spacesuit technology from a Brooklyn entrepreneur," said Elizabeth Kennick, president of Teachers in Space, Inc, "What a great story to inspire students:  You don’t have to be a billionaire to participate in the new space industry.”

The winner will be chosen by a panel of highly qualified judges selected from the space industry and academia, including NASA Deputy Director of Technology Jim Adams, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Dr. Jason Kring, New York University’s Dr. Ed Vessel, and City University of New York’s Dr. Ari Maller.  Ten finalists will have their essays featured on the TIS website, www.teachers-in-space.com.  The winner will receive up to $500 travel reimbursement and will join our test team on the 20-parabola research profile Zero G flight (retail value $6500).
