The UK’s first crowd-funded Harry Potter Fan film is here!

9 years, 7 months and 29 days. That’s how much time passed between the opening of the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Philosopher’s Stone opened November 16, 2001, and it was an instant hit that got some Oscar love, too. But now its 2014 and the fans still crave more.

CRAVE NO MORE!

MANCHESTER, UK –November 5, 2014- Cameron Cairnduff, filmmaker at Little Apple TV, is collaborating with an incredible group of talented young individuals to create the UK’s first ever Harry Potter fan film ‘Mudblood and the Book of Spells’. The film is currently being crowd funded on Kickstarter and aims to explore a new story set in the wizarding world, involving a young, Muggle-born student who finds himself expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

To show their dedication to their fans, and without a budget, the talented group of actors, students and creative team members, created an impressive teaser to display their talent and passion in filmmaking. Not having any money behind this trailer makes one believe that this full-length film could be fantastic if this Kickstarter campaign gets funded.

There are a many components that would uniquely classify this film for success. One being the film’s script, which was written by the contributive efforts of Harry Potter fan forums such as Pottermore and Mugglesnet, thus ensuring the script is as accurate and thrilling as possible for the fans. Another key indicator of success,
amongst many others, is the some of the talented manpower behind the project:
- Gemma Deerfield: Performer and TV producer
- John Eccleston: Co-writer and production adviser. Kayleigh Powell: Set designer, who has first-hand experience on major UK dramas.
- Gemma Kearins: Fashion design graduate, whose work in creative textiles has been featured at London Fashion Week.
- Ben Hugget: Ex-band member with the legendary folk singer Pete Coe and an incredibly talented composer. Ben’s sound-score is unique and truly resembles that of the films. Music supervisor
– Ben Sharpe: from The Zion Creative Network, has had minor successes with recording artists over the years and now he has secured a 60-piece string orchestra from The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

Not only are the individuals listed above and the rest of the team talented but also they share the vision of this film and the passion for the fans. The team has come together from 6 major universities throughout the UK in a joint collaboration to create something of a ‘Hollywood style’ film on a low budget.

Currently the film project is running an “all-or-nothing” Kickstarter campaign to raise money for the films production. Sharing the Kickstarter link on social networks is also a great contribution, and all donations to the Kickstarter campaign are tax-deductible. The campaign will run for 1 month to reach the minimum budget goal of £40,000 by December 1, 2014.

The film festival release date goal is for September 2015, with the aim to subsequently get picked up for DVD and online distribution.

Notes to Editors:
Little Apple TV is a Manchester based video production and post-production company. It was established in the summer of 2013 with the intent to offer affordable but professional video production services. Since launching we have built up a range of experience working on short films, features, commercials, music videos, promos and wedding videos. Each experience has helped us network for which we have an ever-growing list of freelance photographers, cinematographers, grips, sound engineers and actors.

Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative projects that enables people with a great business idea to ask the general public for the funding they need to set up or expand. The business sets a target for the money it wants to raise and explains how it will use the cash. People can then make pledges for small amounts of money in return for a reward if the target is reached.
