Dr. Blanche Touhill Featured Presenter at NAWBO Greater St. Louis Chapter’s November 19 Event

ST. LOUIS - Nov. 9, 2014 - PRLog -- November 9, 2014 (St. Louis) – The National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Greater St. Louis Chapter will host its November 19 Speaker Series featuring Dr. Blanche Touhill, former Chancellor of University of Missouri – St. Louis, as the keynote presenter discussing, “Pathways to Leadership in a Changing World,” from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Old Warson Country Club located at 9841 Old Warson Road, St. Louis, Mo., 63124.

Dr. Blanche Touhill's story is one of firsts.  Aside from the well-known St. Louis performance hall that bears her name, she was the first woman to acquire tenure at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and the first woman to chair the University Senate, the UMSL governing body.  She ultimately became the university's chancellor, also the first time this prestigious role was held by a woman.

Dr. Blanche Touhill, former Chancellor of UMSL, was born and raised in St. Louis and received her Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees from St. Louis University.  Touhill joined the faculty at UMSL in 1965 and eventually became chancellor of the university in 1990, a position she would hold for 12 years.  During her tenure, UMSL added 30 academic programs and 138 acres to its campus, among other accomplishments.  In 1997, she became the first woman to receive the St. Louis Citizen of the Year Award.

The cost to attend for members is $75.00 and for non-members the cost is $100.00. Networking will be from 4:00 – 4:45 p.m., Dr. Touhill’s presentation is from 4:45 – 5:45 p.m., and networking is from 5:45 – 7:00 pm.
