Giving Tuesday Set for December 2

Movement aims to create a new tradition of generosity for the holiday season

The Nonprofit Alliance of Monterey County and the Development Executive Network encourage individuals, families, and organization to get involved in Giving Tuesday.

What Is Giving Tuesday?

#GivingTuesdaytm (#GT) is a movement to create a national day of giving to kick off the giving season, added to the calendar on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. The third annual GivingTuesday is on December 2, 2014.

In the same way that retail stores take part in Black Friday, we want the giving community to come together for #GivingTuesday. We ask that partners create and commit to a project for/on #GivingTuesday and then help spread the word to their networks. We have a day for thanks. We have two for getting deals and one to promote small business. Now we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back.

It’s a simple idea. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Join us and be part of a global celebration of a new tradition of generosity.
