Scripps Performing Arts Academy To Present Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

SAN DIEGO - Nov. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Scripps Performing Arts Academy announced today that its musical theater department is set to produce a modern and rollicking version of the popular musical parable, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.  The production, which features the iconic music of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, will star Layla Ziani as the Narrator and Aidan Potter in the role of Joseph. This dynamic duo was last seen as Lucy & Schroeder in Scripps Performing Arts Academy’s spring production of You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown. The headliners lead a cast of actors ranging in age from 8 to 16.

This magical musical retells the biblical story of Joseph, his 11 brothers, and the coat of many colors. The trials and tribulations of Joseph make for a spellbinding musical journey as Israel’s favorite son, Joseph, journeys to Egypt after being sold into slavery by his brothers.

Joseph is the first collaboration for Musical Theater directors, Jessie Cosentino and Vince Rimoldi, who have worked together in the past producing musical theatre for Scripps Performing Arts Academy’s summer programs. Rimoldi, who had the distinction of playing Joseph in the very first show ever staged at the Garfield Theater, has brought his experience to the production. According to Cosentino, “Working with Vince has been a major inspiration…his quirky and modern take on this production compliments my choreography perfectly.” The duo have also benefited from the collaborative talents of music director, Lorea Herald, a veteran vocal coach with over 20 years of experience.
