“The Center is designed to offer a sense of belonging where students know someone would stop and listen.”

IntelliTec College recognizes that as student enrollment of military service members and their families increases at career-focused colleges, resources need to evolve.

“Sixty percent of our students are somehow military-related; veterans, active duty, reservists and even family members attend our programs. We want to make sure we address the requirements of this growing population with resources designed to meet their needs,” explains Randy Flynt, IntelliTec College Dean of Students and Veterans’ Assistance Task Force member for the Center.

Flynt continues, “Our ultimate goal is to implement best practices defined by the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU) in order to qualify as a veteran-friendly and military-friendly college.” The criteria includes (but is not limited to) assisting service members to achieve their military, educational and career goals and to provide outreach programs such as Transition Assistance Programs (TAP) and training workshops.

“We wanted to go one step further,” emphasizes IntelliTec Colleges President and CEO Michael Schranz. “We felt it was both beneficial and necessary to create a place where military and non-military students alike could stop in for any kind of assistance needed. The Center is designed to offer a sense of belonging where students know someone would stop and listen.”

IntelliTec has always focused on giving personalized attention to each of its students.

“Right now we have teachers from every program making themselves available for specialized, one-on-one tutoring with coursework and labs. We also provide counselors to assist students with a myriad of personal and emotional issues,” explains Kim Templin, IntelliTec College Lead Admissions Representative and Veterans’ Assistance Task Force member for the Center.

Templin adds, “As the military population grew on our campus, it became clear we now had an entirely different culture in the classroom. Anxieties such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are just one of the areas we now address as part of our educational framework.”

Current coalitions with the Wounded Warrior Program of Colorado Springs, Rocky Mountain Human Services, Aspen Pointe and the Veteran’s Administration Center provide a number of invaluable resources for IntelliTec students. The task force for the Center plans to increase its community outreach programs by networking with additional organizations.

IntelliTec College in Colorado Springs would like to extend a sincere thank you to every Veterans’ Assistance Task Force member who made this Center possible.
