Will Israel use nuclear weapons against Iran?

Iran has the capability to build a nuclear bomb in less than a year. If Iran remains a nuclear threshold state other Middle Eastern states will be encouraged to seek nuclear weapons.

BROOKINGS, Ore. - Nov. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- What’s at stake isn’t just the fate of Israel in the Middle East. What is at stake is the fate of the entire world. Iran is an Islamist state on a nuclear threshold. It just hasn’t assembled the bomb yet.

Because Israel is a small country geographically, Israelis believes a nuclear Iran would be a threat to Israel’s very existence. One nuclear bomb could destroy the little country of Israel.

Israel can systematically eliminate the uranium conversion plant at Isfahan, the weapons development facility at Parchin, and the enrichment plant at Natanz, with conventional cruise missiles launched from submarines.

However, many experts believe Israel will need tactical nuclear weapons to eliminate the uranium enrichment plant deep underground at the heavily fortified site of Fordow near the holy city of Qom. If Israel used a nuclear tipped weapon to destroy the Fordow facility they would be crossing the nuclear Rubicon, and would face serious condemnation from the world community.

Israel might consider using a low yield mini nuclear tactical weapon to destroy the secret undeclared underground enrichment facility six miles from the town of Mobareken. This secrete site has been in operation under the Hassan Rouhani’s Presidency and reported by a resistance group in Iran.

If Iran complains that Israel used nuclear weapons Israel can deny they have nuclear weapons and deny the secret Iranian underground facility even exists. The Tehran Mullahs might be reluctant to allow outside inspectors to inspect a clandestine sight that does not exist and is secretly enriching uranium. Iran may decide to defer its entire nuclear program.

If Israel does not want to cross the nuclear Rubicon, it could consider dropping a conventional cruise missile and eliminating the Mullahs and the Ayatollah all at one time. The Iranian people as a whole are not militant Islamists and do not want an oppressive theocratic dictatorship. Before the Islamic Revolution of 1979, Iran and Israel maintained a healthy relationship. If Israel eliminated the Islamic Revolutionary leaders, the nuclear program would lose it sponsors, and Iran may stop being a rogue nation. Israel is approaching the moment of truth and there will be no easy answers.

The Middle East is a tough neighborhood to live in and only the strong survive. Iran has developed a diverse widely dispersed, well fortified nuclear program. It is approaching time for Israel’s counter move. The world is waiting.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has some comfort in the fact the Republicans now control the House and the Senate. Obama will be a lame duck President for his remaining two years.

Only God knows the future. “To every thing there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 & 8)

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined…For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…The Mighty God…The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:2,6)
