Spruce Foundation And The It Gets Better Project Host LGTBQ Variety Hour

“When I Was Young” Presented by Philly’s Next Gen Philanthropists in Partnership with the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts with All Proceeds to Benefit Charity
 
PHILADELPHIA - Nov. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- PHILADELPHIA, PA – On Thursday, November 6, at 7:00 PM, the Spruce Foundation will host the “When I Was Young” Variety Hour, in Partnership with the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts and the It Gets Better Project, at Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar. Tickets are priced at $15 dollars at the door.

The event will include sketch comedy, spoken word, burlesque, and other performances designed to reflect the It Gets Better Project’s and the Spruce Foundation’s mission of supporting the LGBTQ community. Featured acts will include:

•  Burlesque performance of Idina Menzel’s “Let it Go” by Aida BummCake

•  Drag performances by Jonathon Edmunds and Ben Storey a.k.a. “Mary Vice”

•  A musical performance of Sara Bareilles’ “Brave” by Dane Farrell

•  Stand-up comedy and storytelling by Justin Nordell

•  Pole dancing by Ian Wesley

•  Musical theatre by Nate Gordon

•  Magic by Justin Relkin

•  Poetry by Yashi McGowan

Proceeds from the event benefit the Spruce Foundation in the organization’s efforts to be a consistent source of dedicated grant funding to Philadelphia organizations working with LGBTQ youth. Fifteen percent of the bar’s proceeds will be donated back to Spruce by Tabu Lounge and Sports Bar.
