Rumberger’s Armando Hernandez Participates in Panel Discussion on Professionalism and Civility

MIAMI - Nov. 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Armando Hernandez, an attorney with Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell, P.A., in Miami, recently participated in a panel discussion titled "Professionalism, Civility, and the Local Professionalism Panels" for the Honorable Peter T. Fay Inn of Court’s special event at La Loggia restaurant in Miami on October 20, 2014.  The distinguished panel included Chief Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court Bertila Soto and Miami-Dade Circuit Court Judge Thomas Rebull, co-chair of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit’s Professionalism Committee, and Hernandez, a Local Professionalism Panel member.

Several South Florida judges, lawyers, professors, and law students were in attendance for the first presentation for the Inn's 2014-2015 calendar year.  The topics discussed by the presenters included the definition of professionalism; experiences regarding professionalism from the attorney and judicial perspectives; the history of the professionalism panels and the professionalism initiative; the purpose and scope of the local professionalism panels; a discussion of the Code of Professionalism; an explanation of the professionalism panel process; hanging of the professionalism standards in law firm offices; sharing the standards with clients; and ways for law students to begin developing a sense of professionalism and civility.  The voter referendum and need for a new civil courthouse in Miami-Dade County were also discussed.

Hernandez is an active member of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit’s Professionalism Panel, which is charged with receiving, screening, and acting upon complaints of unprofessional conduct by attorneys practicing within the Circuit.  More information on the professionalism panel is available at http://www.jud11.flcourts.org/SCSingle.aspx?pid=693.  Hernandez focuses his practice in the areas of product liability, admiralty/maritime law, commercial litigation, and casualty defense matters.  Hernandez earned a juris doctor, magna cum laude, from St. Thomas University School of Law.
