Follow on Google News | Dr. Steven Finkelstein Named Chief Science Officer at 21st Century Oncology“Dr. Finkelstein has demonstrated a continuous commitment to provide cancer patients with access to novel therapies in the local communities he serves,” says Constantine Mantz, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of 21st Century Oncology. “We are proud he accepted the offer to become the company’s Chief Science Officer to expand access to local clinical trials to cancer patients nationwide.” Dr. Finkelstein is an expert in prostate cancer and sarcoma and has a special interest in patient care and research of a variety of cancers, using radiation-driven, personalized systemic therapy. Accordingly, he holds three international patents pending in cutting edge technologies. He has given national and international lectures, published numerous professional journal articles, and written book chapters, resulting in over 2,000 reference citations. He has various leadership roles in the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, Radiological Society of North America, and the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group. Dr. Finkelstein also serves as the National Director of the Translational Research Consortium, the research arm of 21st Century Oncology, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Translational Genomic Research Institute (TGen), Vice Chair of Translational Research for Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) Radiation committee, and editor-in-chief of the Journal, Contemporary Radiation Oncology. “With this new role, I look forward to advancing the company’s mission of increasing patient access to novel cancer care,” says Dr. Finkelstein. “I am proud to better serve cancer patients nationwide by providing access to clinical trials in local communities, close to patient’s homes.” Dr. Finkelstein earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School.
