New Agency Creating Mobile Apps to End Head-Down-Syndrome

BEND, Ore. - Nov. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Binary Star Systems, a woman owned creative agency in Bend, Oregon, is eager to help local companies grow their business with effective graphic design, marketing, web design and software development. In addition to their creative consulting services, Binary Star Systems is developing experiential mobile apps which are poised to bring people together instead of the typical, heads-down, socially disengaged current approach. Headed by the husband and wife team of Jim Sipe and Lisa Sipe, Binary Star Systems is new to Oregon but the company itself is a dba of the award-winning Phoenix-based creative agency, Star Dot Star.

The creative power couple, graphic designer and creative marketer Lisa Sipe and problem-solving software developer Jim Sipe, offer a wide range of services. You name it: branding, social media marketing, software product development, website creation, content marketing. They’ve done it. They can work at a very high level with business owners offering advice and direction for software based products and marketing strategy. But they are just as comfortable taking high-level business goals and translating them into executable tasks. Binary Star Systems is for any businesses looking for an agency to provide a fresh perspective and insight with a focus on strategy and creative work. Their current clientele is a mix of large and small businesses in healthcare, manufacturing, technology, start-ups and the arts with national clients including Mayo Clinic, Champion Medical Technologies and Bend-based Lumin Art Studios and home goods designer Natalie Mason. The Sipe’s have helped several businesses reach the next level. They designed the magazine and advertising platform for Phoenix-based publisher My Local Pregnancy (The Bump) which was sold to The Knot. They also created the branding, marketing and provided software direction for medical software company, Champion Medical Technologies, which helped them get 2.5 million dollars in funding.

The skills Binary Star Systems brings to the table for their consulting clientele is applied to the other half of their business: experiential mobile app development. With a mission to end head-down-syndrome and bring people together through mobile experience, they are almost ready to launch their first app, FoodFu, in beta.

FoodFu is an experiential game that allows users to have their own cooking competitions at home. It brings the fun and excitement from shows like Top Chef and Chopped while allowing anyone to participate. To play FoodFu, users need a kitchen and at least four people to divide into two chefs, two judges and one moderator (who can also be a judge). After choosing a secret ingredient, like carrots or bacon, the chefs have 45 minutes to prepare a dish. During the 45 minutes the moderator interviews the chefs and judges with prompted questions from FoodFu. When time is up the judges get to taste the dishes and rate the chefs based on plating, taste and creativity. FoodFu tallies the results and announces the winner. What happens through the use of the app is that participants get to interact with each other while playing a game creating their own dinner theatre and memories at home.

FoodFu is the first of a list of experiential apps Binary Star Systems plans to develop. “We are tired of seeing everyone looking down at their phones and disconnecting from the people around them,” says Lisa Sipe, “we really want to use technology to bring people together. At the end of the day what you remember are the experiences you’ve had. We want to help people create those memories.”

Binary Star Systems is currently seeking clients for their consulting business and beta testers for the first release of FoodFu. For more information visit www.BinaryStarSystems.com.
