Follow on Google News | New Wine Imports by Alexander Jules Sherry OwnerBy: Alexander Jules Mr. Russan's inaugural container is landing in early November, and includes: a bottling of the rare Albarín Blanco grape from Cangas del Narcea based producer Bodega Vidas (there are only around 100 hectares of Albarín Blanco in existence, and in the slate soils and cold, rainy Cangas climate, it is an elegant, aromatic wine with bright acidity); a pair of mineral reds from Canary Island producer Dominguez Cuarta Generacion in the Tacorante-Acento DO (blends of grapes such as Listan Negro, Baboso, Negramoll, Castellana Negra and Tintilla, from pre-phylloxera vines grown in volcanic soils); and a dry Asturian cider, “El Carrascu” by Sidra Acebal made with Asturian heirloom apple varieties (primarily Regona, Durona de Tresali and Raxao). Since their arrival a year ago, Mr. Russan's Alexander Jules sherries have received acclaim from the Los Angles Times, Los Angeles Magazine, LA Weekly, and numerous blogs around the world, and are currently being distributed in the US and Japan. In the coming months be on the look out for his next sherry releases, two single barrel releases of a very old Amontillado (only 65 bottles each) bottled exclusively for and selected with K&L Wine Merchants of California, as well as a very old Oloroso he's calling Los Abandonados, from barrels recently “rediscovered” www.alexander- End
