MiCTA Issues RFP For Wide-Area Network Fiber Build-Out Services

Fiber optic network build-out services sought for national membership
By: MiCTA

SAGINAW, Mich. - Nov. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- MiCTA, a national non-profit technology consortium has issued a Request For Proposals from qualified vendors of fiber optic network construction services under the terms of a Master Service Agreement. Vendors that wish to receive a copy of the RFP should contact MiCTA to express interest in receiving a copy of the RFP once it has been released. The deadline to respond is November 21, 2014.

"The RFP seeks to identify qualified wide-area network fiber construction contractors across the United States," says Tim von Hoff, Chief Operating Officer of MiCTA. "Many of our members would like to take advantage of programs to help them receive high-speed broadband connectivity," says von Hoff." By evaluating qualified fiber build-out contractors under a Master Service Agreement, MiCTA aims to streamline and reduce the cost of designing and building rural wide-area fiber-based networks.

MiCTA members represent a wide array of sectors, including higher education, K-12 education, healthcare, libraries, state and municipal governments and non-profit organizations.  "For our members situated in rural areas, the availability of broadband services is a vexing problem," says von Hoff. "In rural settings, it is often faster and more cost-effective for our members to build and operate their own wide-area fiber networks. This RFP will enable all MiCTA members to locate qualified fiber contractors who can provide these essential fiber build-out services."

For more information about the current RFP, or to request a copy, interested potential vendors should see the USA Today ad in the October 8, 2014 issue, or contact MiCTA through its website, at http://www.mictatech.org.
