MONTREAL - Nov. 3, 2014 - PRLog -- Last winter, James Arsenian was searching for a new microphone after his died. A long time metal vocalist, Arsenian wanted a dynamic microphone designed with his aggressive vocals in mind that could pack a punch and still look cool. After trying several models on the market, he decided to do some research into creating his own.

James found that he could design and build the one-of-a-kind microphone of his dreams. “I worked with a manufacturer to build my microphone. They made everything to my specification. That ended up being the first Right Hook Mic and I have now played over 130 shows with it. It’s a workhorse.”

This summer, Arsenian decided it was time to offer the microphones to other musicians looking for something different. He enlisted the help of a friend and digital marketing consultant, Kayli Barth, to come on board as a co-founder and help him start the business. Together, Arsenian and Barth have been working to make Right Hook Microphones available to musicians everywhere.

The look of these microphones is really unique on the market. The microphones feature a classic ‘grill’ body with custom paint finishes. “I wanted a microphone to look and sound rad, and be able to perform as well as the more expensive brands on the market,” said Arsenian. He also stated that he takes pride in making a quality product that all musicians can afford.

The capsule Arsenian chose for his microphone is perfect for metal musicians and other loud, aggressive vocalists. It is a high gain vocal dynamic microphone with a frequency response of 40hz-12kHz on a curve that provides a rich low end and a cardioid pattern that makes it very directional. “You have to be right in front of this microphone to be heard and you won't get feedback unless you're intentionally trying to” Arsenian says.

Right Hook Microphones were originally designed with metal vocalists in mind, but musicians from other genres have been using the microphones with great results. “We’ve had musicians in Nashville order our mics and use them for country. People have been trying them in the studio as well and are loving it,” says Barth. “We plan on expanding the line of microphones soon to appeal to more musicians in other genres and settings.”
