New Name for Business Events in Port Douglas

PORT DOUGLAS, Australia - Nov. 2, 2014 - PRLog -- Formerly known as Port Douglas Incentives, Natalie Johnson chair of newly rebranded BEPD, said it was the right time to relaunch with strong interest and demand for business events in the region.

“When Port Douglas Incentives was formed in 1996 our target market was very different. The majority of business to the Port Douglas and Daintree region at that time was from North America and was pure incentive.

“Today, the mix of business events to the destination is very different. The majority of events are domestic corporate conferences, followed by international incentives.

“The new name of the organisation reflects the change in this mix and becomes more inclusive and attractive to both professional conference organisers and incentive houses,” she said.

Ms Johnson also believed new opportunities for BEPD would flow from a greater understanding of what it is the organisation promotes.

“The understanding by the industry of what the term “business events” means, will ensure when making appointments with key stakeholders, they will see we cover the entire range of business events, not just incentives.

“The region has continued to grow in popularity as a leader in business events, with conference delegates loving the fresh tropical feel of our resorts and hotels as well the choice of offsite business event facilities.

“This is on top of our stunning natural assets including the Daintree Rainforest, our unique Indigenous experiences and of course the Great Barrier Reef.”

Tourism Port Douglas and Daintree (TPDD) executive officer Tara Bennett said as a major sponsor and supporter of BEPD, they were pleased with the new look and brand.

“The name change has come about to align our name with the national and regional bodies Business Events Australia and Business Events Cairns Great Barrier Reef.

“It will also embrace the change we have seen in the MICE sector with business events now being the acknowledged collective term for all things conference, incentives, meetings and expos.”
