SEATTLE - Nov. 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Northwest Retail Recycles is a (dba) of Portland Store Fixtures, as well as Seattle Store Fixtures, (new to Seattle in the SoDo as of June) which is where their drop-off location will be on America Recycles Day November 15th. According to The City of Seattle Business Licensing Department, there has been consistent retail growth in Seattle—between 2013 and 2014 there their are now a combined 16,348 retail businesses licensed in Seattle. Northwest Retail Recyclers (http://www.nwretailrecyclers.com/nwrr-home) keeps an average of 100 tons of store fixtures and related items out of the landfill annually in Portland. With its new Seattle Store Fixtures location and the growth of the area, owners Kat Schon and Penney Stephenson expect the amount they keep out of the landfill to nearly triple.

Being green in the Northwest has become an accepted norm. Last year, Seattle generated 356,480 tons of waste, and recycled 62.9 percent, and it’s a trend that continues. Business owners can now call Northwest Retail Recyclers to remove their unwanted fixtures and displays, saving 25 to 50 percent of disposal costs (in closing or relocating a store). They also make special trips to those stores that have items in their back rooms, that are in the way. “We have companies call us from Macy’s and Nike, to privately owned and family retailers, that ask us to come get what they keep tripping over, and give it another life,” says Kat Schon, co-owner.

On November 15th, Seattle Store Fixtures located at 3663 1st Ave South, Seattle WA 98134, (in the SoDo) will be accepting office furniture, store fixtures and related retail items only. “Keep America Beautiful” proudly supports Northwest Retail Recyclers efforts to promote recycling in Seattle. Recyclable items we use every day such as hangers and chairs can be repurposed and reused. “We are heartfelt in our commitment to open a location in Seattle; we feel that as part of the community we can help to reduce millions of dollars worth of items thrown away each year, that would otherwise end up in the landfill,” said Ms. Stephenson co-owner of Seattle Store Fixtures.
