Follow on Google News | InSIGHT Through Education to Present 'LIGHT / The Holocaust & Humanity Project'By: PR-BS, Inc LIGHT / The Holocaust & Humanity Project To 2,000 Local Students in November 2015 Barbara & Jerry Golden of Palm Beach Gardens to Serve as Honorary Chairs (West Palm Beach, FL – October 23, 2014) It is still more than a year away, but the moral, spiritual and cultural waves from the inspirational endeavor are already beginning to ripple throughout Palm Beach County. InSIGHT Through Education, Inc., a nonprofit, nonsectarian, all volunteer organization, will be presenting LIGHT / The Holocaust & Humanity Project, a full-length contemporary ballet and education partnership that promotes the protection of human rights against bigotry and hate through the arts, education and public dialogue. Honorary Chairs for this important campaign are Barbara & Jerry Golden of Palm Beach Gardens. LIGHT premiered in 2005, with original choreography by Ballet Austin Director Stephen Mills. The work is based on Mills’ interviews with Holocaust survivors and illustrates the courage, resilience and perseverance required to endure and rebuild life after unimaginable and devastating losses. The piece is set to music by several important living composers, among them Steve Reich and Philip Glass. "The strength of this piece is its universality; Funded by inSIGHT, Ballet Austin will perform LIGHT for more than 2,000 local students in November 2015 at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach. This will be the third presentation by the nonprofit organization at the Kravis Center, including Brundibar (2011), a riveting children’s opera that Hitler used to fool the world into thinking he was treating young people well, and Hitler’s Daughter (2013), a live presentation by an Australian theatre group. "By using the arts to convene an important community conversation about hatred and bigotry, LIGHT / The Holocaust & Humanity Project is designed to bring South Florida together as a united front against indifference and prejudice,” says Rosen. “The anti-hate initiative encourages our community to stand together and refuse to be indifferent to racism, ethnic hatred, homophobia, anti-Semitism and all forms of intolerance. By establishing Palm Beach County as a community of respect, this project reminds us that we’re all in this together.” LIGHT sponsorship opportunities are available at incremental levels from $500 to $10,000.
