Friends, Moms & Business Owners celebrate 7 years in Business

GILBERT, Ariz. - Oct. 31, 2014 - PRLog -- Elizabeth Morganroth and Erin Kvist, owners of Mosaic Properties, are celebrating 7 years in the real estate business on November 7th, 2014.  Mosaic Properties is a full service Real Estate and Property Management firm that manages over 500 properties in the Greater Phoenix area.  Despite entering the business during Phoenix real estate’s most volatile times, these owners have gained great success through perseverance, friendship, and hard work.

Liz and Erin became friends when we were 12 years old, when Liz asked Erin to clean her gerbil cage…(true story), which was the beginning of a lifelong friendship .

In 2007, Liz and Erin decided to open a business together.   Erin remembers, “We both were in the real estate industry, each had two kids by then, and we were ready to take on the world”.  Mosaic Properties opened its doors in Chandler, AZ on November 9th, 2007.  Mosaic Properties has sold thousands of homes and managed as many in our property management department since then.  When asked about Property Management, Liz states, “Believe me when I tell you that working as a landlord is not an easy job.  We now have about 15 employees, and a whole heck of a lot less free time.  “

Balancing work and life can be challenging.  Liz and Erin frequently have those sit downs where they feel that if they spend too much time with our kids we feel like we are neglecting work, and vice versa.  “It’s amazing to have a friend who literally knows exactly where you are coming from.   It’s also very comforting to know, that no matter how much or little one may work, every mom at some point feels like they want to do even more for their child. “, says Erin of balancing it all.

Liz’s time is especially strained because her daughter, born in 2010, has Down syndrome.  Between therapist appointments, special preschools, and extensive advocating for her child, she feels pulled in a billion different directions, as you can imagine.  However, the two have used work as a launching pad to support various causes related to Down Syndrome, and involve their clients, vendors, and just about anyone they  can touch. Last year, Liz’s daughter Ella made it as Down Syndrome Network’s highest donation earner, which placed her on the most coveted cover of their annual calendar.

Being a business owner and a mom is not always what it may seem.    Liz feels the biggest advantage to owning is that they make their own schedule, “if we want to take our kids for an impromptu trip sledding, we do.  If we decide Disneyland sounds fun for an extended weekend, we go.  Of course, we pay for it with our workload when we come back, but it is all worth it to be able to enjoy those special moments with our kiddos.”   Between the two women, Liz and Erin have 6 kids, 2 husbands, a thriving business and many random pets, reptiles, etc.  As you can imagine, they stay pretty busy.

Erin encourages mom’s considering starting a business, “I say GO FOR IT! It is always much more desirable to start with a best friend whenever possible.    I can say that working is very rewarding for us.  Of course, nothing tops parenthood, but owning our own business makes us happy, which helps us to be even better parents.  “As for Liz, she says “Do what you love, with whom you love, and anything is possible.   Every woman should be fulfilled in a way it completes her best.  If you have always wanted to start your own business, nothing should hold you back, not even small children.  It’s never too late.   Work extremely hard, but of course, don’t forget about those kids and girlfriends!”
