‘Morium’ by S.J. Hermann – A Fantasy/YA Novel for Readers of All Ages

NEW YORK - Oct. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- S.J. Hermann published his debut novel, ‘Morium’, the first in a trilogy, on September 20, 2014. A Fantasy/ Young Adult story with elements of Science Fiction, ‘Morium’ has already reached an average of 4.7 out of 5 stars rating on Amazon, and reviewers have praised it for its original premise and thought-provoking messages. Even though the target audience for this book might seem to be teenagers and young adults, the truth is that it is such a compelling and intriguing read that it will appeal to readers of all ages and interests.

The main characters are two high school seniors, Nathan and Lexi, who are looking forward to graduation for the same reason: it is the only way they will get rid of the bullies who have been tormenting and humiliating them since the beginning of high school. Nathan and Lexi are best friends, and they only have each other. Neither of them can find love and support at home, because their parents are never there to listen, and they don’t seem to care if anything happens to their children. Nathan lives in a house that is almost always empty, and Lexi has just lost her mother and has to deal with her father’s depression. The only thing that helps her relieve some of her pain is to cut her arms methodically.

Their lives are turned upside down when they find some strange, alien stones in the forest. After they touch them, they gain superpowers and they realize that they suddenly have the power to do anything they want. Nathan is ready to get back at his bullies, while Lexi is a bit reluctant. Her power to feel what other people are feeling tell her that those who have tormented them for so long aren’t happy either, and this stops her from wanting to seek revenge. Nathan, on the other hand, is unstoppable. He soon learns that his powers grow if he absorbs the souls of his enemies, and that is the point when Lexi decides to break their friendship. Nathan is hurting innocent people and now she has to do something to make him understand how wrong this is.

‘Morium’ has received enthusiastic reviews on Amazon. Here is what some reviewers have said about it:

‘One of the strengths of this book is how it really captures what it feels like to be bullied at school and the psychological toll it takes on the victims; it’s an overarching theme through the book, but the author takes time to make it complex. I also liked how Lexi and Nathan’s different reactions to bullying and their home situations informed how they allowed themselves to be changed in response to the alien matter.’ – E. Lucas, Top 500 Reviewer

‘I loved the premise of two teens using their powers differently. It made me realize how different everyone’s thoughts were, and if you don’t deal with stress, then it can cause you to slide off the path.’ – Niyati Mavinkurve
