A New Dream for America/Speaker Series with Author James Hilgendorf

By: Jim Hilgendorf

Oct. 30, 2014 - PRLog -- The first of a new speaker series by author James Hilgendorf, based on his nine non-fiction books, focuses on creating a new dream of America.

He writes:

"Every great civilization has had its own myth, a cosmic story of how we fit into the universe, a divine story of who we are and where we have come from.

"Now all the old myths have crumbled to dust.

"What we crave is a new consciousness, a new time - a story that encompasses the heavens and suns and stars and galaxies and black holes and universes beyond  number, yet is bolted down to rocks and rivers and flowers and thunder and rain, finding its tale reverberating through the bones and marrow and hearts of the blacksmith, the nanny, the insurance salesman, the ice cream vendor, the teacher, banker, garbage collector, shoe repairman, mechanic, musician...

"It takes place here and now.

"The real, true dream of America."

This dream of America, Hilgendorf explains, is something that was there from the very beginning of the founding of the Republic - a vision that was expressed in the early American Renaissance by writers and poets like Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Walt Whitman.  These poets wrote of an America imbued with a great spiritual vision, and this deep vision, which we have lost, is in need of revitalization.

Hilgendorf is a Buddhist, practicing for over forty years with the SGI, or Soka Gakkai International, and the Buddhist ideals of peace, culture, and education imbue both his books and his talks.

James Hilgendorf can be contacted directly to set up talks anywhere in the United States, either in person, or via telephone or Skype video.

His website is at http://www.jameshilgendorf.org  His books are available through bookstores, or through online booksellers such as Amazon.com, Ibooks, Barnes and Noble and others.
