Industry 4 Pioneers Forcam Strengthens UK Team

MIDDLEWICH, U.K. - Oct. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- A new appointment signifies a step change for manufacturing shop-floor software specialist, Forcam. Reinforcing its UK presence, the appointment of Andrew Steele as managing director of UK operations will deepen penetration into the UK aerospace, defence, automotive, rail and engineering markets.

Previous experience at a number of tier 1 and OEM suppliers, has given Andrew an in-depth understanding of core manufacturing issues, including innovation and managing complex industry supply chains. Andrew will be introducing Forcam’s Factory Framework, a system for shop-floor networking that has already delivered productivity gains of more than 20 per cent in automotive industries. The company has approaching 60,000 machine tools and processes connected via the system world-wide.

“Computerised manufacturing execution systems have a huge potential to energise UK industry at all levels. Productivity increase is the most obvious advantage, but the possibilities arising from having machine-to-machine (M2M) networking, an extension of the ‘Internet of Things’ for the shop-floor, opens opportunities for more agile manufacturing systems that can innovate more quickly. That is why this has been termed the fourth industrial revolution,” Andrew explained.

Andrew will be making contact with existing users and potential key accounts throughout the UK aerospace, automotive, rail and engineering supply chain following an initial induction and training period at Forcam’s HQ in Germany.
