NEW YORK - Oct. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- It has been recently announced that ‘Andrew Murray: Destined to Serve (A Biography)’ by author Olea Nel will be free on Amazon Kindle from October 29 to October 30, 2014. The book was published on September 28, 2014, and it has an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars on Amazon. Those who have read Andrew Murray’s books and admire his work as a pastor in South Africa in the mid-19th century have long been waiting for a biography that would focus on his formative years.

Andrew Murray was a South African writer, teacher, and Christian pastor, and he wrote over 240 books that still guide and inspire people today. He studied theology in Europe, and in 1848 he was ordained by the Hague Committee of the Dutch Reformed Church. He returned to the Cape and was reunited with his family for a short time. He was only 21 when he was appointed as pastor to the Dutch emigrants beyond the borders of the Cape, and thus began his first year of preaching to a congregation of over 20.000 souls.

Olea Nel based her novel on Andrew Murray’s letters and early biographies. She managed to capture the pastor’s personality and show him to the readers exactly as he was: a practical, down-to-earth person who was loved by the community. His mission was not an easy one, and his frenetic preaching tours often left him exhausted and stressed. He felt overwhelmed by the task, and he even had doubts about his own calling. However, his faith in God gave him strength, and his hard, persistent work helped him become a powerful preacher and a wise scholar.

‘Andrew Murray: Destined to Serve’ has received a lot of praise from Amazon customers. Here is what the reviewers said about the book:

‘Having read Andrew Murray’s writings, it was a real eye-opener to read about his first year of ministry in South Africa. He was an ordinary Dutch Reformed minister who faced extraordinary circumstances. Although only 21, Murray was loaded with responsibilities which both excited and challenged him to the limits.’ – Jayne Clues, Amazon reviewer.

‘In Olea Nel’s engaging biographical novel we journey with Andrew Murray as he deals with the struggles of youth, the weight of family expectations, and the need to establish himself in his chosen vocation. And, of course, like all young men, he makes mistakes along the way.’ – Vincent Wilfrid, Amazon reviewer.

About the author:
Dr. Olea Nel was born in Cape Town, South Africa. After completing her training as a teacher in Andrew Murray's heartland of Wellington, she relocated to Australia to further her studies. Besides attaining a PhD in Linguistics, she also has qualifications in Information Studies and Theology. She has taught at several tertiary institutions in Australia. On a trip to South Africa in 2006, she came to realize how little was known about Andrew Murray's life and the Cape revival of 1860. As a result, she set about unearthing this information, which she subsequently published in 2008 as ‘South Africa's Forgotten Revival’.
