Domestic Terrorist Christopher Suttles in Desert Hot Springs

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. - Oct. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA – No one knew when Christopher Suttles arrived in this city that he had spent time in prison after pleading guilty to domestic terrorism. That’s because he changed his name.

Itai Cardona took up residence in the city five months ago and immediately forged a political presence that included a push for the creation of a new human rights commission along with his becoming Chairman.

The man changed his name to put distance between him and his birth name of Christopher Lee Suttles. His true name and an easy Google search would have made an immediate connection.

Missouri court records and law enforcement authorities in Springfield Missouri confirm Christopher Suttles was arrested April 19, 2007 at 8 a.m. The charge was making terrorists threats via an email he sent earlier that day at 7:15 a.m. The threat was directed at a Professor teaching at Missouri State University where Suttles was a student.

The threat resulted in the shut down of Craig Hall and Suttles’ immediate arrest.

In the email Suttles threatened to “eliminate” students who he described by ethnic and sexual slurs. “Suttles made threats to “eliminate” minority groups on campus — homosexuals, blacks, Hispanics and Jews,” according to news accounts. Less than an hour after the email was received it was forwarded to the school’s president and eight officers quietly arrested Suttles in Craig Hall.

The arrest of Christopher Suttles came just three days after a killing rampage on the campus of Virginia Tech and amid heightened tensions from the incident. Missouri media highlighted the connection to Virginia Tech and other new’s accounts of another horrific incident involving a mentally ill student had committed atrocities in Tuscon, Arizona.

Christopher Suttles bail was set at $100,000. He was prohibited from stepping foot on the university campus and possessing a firearm court records show. After four years of criminal proceedings, Suttles plead guilty to charges of domestic terrorism in November of 2010.

Shock Incarceration

When Christopher Suttles arrived in Desert Hot Springs in April 2014 with a new name as C. Itai Cardona he had three months left on his probation term.Christopher Suttles was facing a five year prison sentence but with his guilty plea he was given four months of shock incarceration, a technical term to describe an intense type of incarceration. He was also sentenced to five years’ probation following his release. Court records also show he was required to continue taking medication.

Not long after arriving Suttles dropped the “C” in C. Itai Cardona and became known only as Itai Cardona, a move that further distanced him from his real first name.

The Domestic Terrorist as Politician

Itai Cardona has also assumed a very high profile on social meeting groups, especially a Facebook group with the name Desert Hot Springs Neighborhood Group. He is a prolific contributor to that forum. He also set up a Facebook group called DHS Human Rights Committee.Itai Cardona immediately took to political prominence in Desert Hot Springs by speaking at city council meetings, making speeches and taking outspoken positions on issues involving the deaf (he required the city hire two sign language translators he selected for city council meeting) and on gay rights.

Itai Cardona also caught the ear of Mayor Adam Sanchez who appointed him to head a newly formed Mayor’s human rights committee in the city. The formation of the committee was the brainchild of Itai Cardona who had first pressed for a formal city commission rather than just a committee.

Itai Cardona claims to possess a master’s degree and says he is now working to obtain a second master’s degree. He also manufactured a business card announcing his official city position as Chairman of his Committee.With that toe hold into the function of the city, Itai Cardona began a climb up the Desert Hot Springs political ladder. His car now adorns magnetic door signs reading- Itai Cardona D.D., Human Rights Committee with the address of a post office box.

City History of Fraud and Deception

Having prior legal troubles and using an assumed name when arriving in Desert Hot Springs is nothing new. The city has a history of more than a few past politically notable people who did the same, some at a cost to the city of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Most notable was Michael Crosby who was eventually unmasked as Michael Krzyzaniak a convicted felon. Krzyzaniak snookered the city into backing a Ponzi Scheme development that cost the city hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees. The development, Palmwood, bilked investors out of life savings amounting to millions of dollars. Kryzaniak also cost the public an additional million dollar expense of public funds due to his fraud

Catching the ear of a Mayor, former Mayor Yvonne Parks, the man known as Michael Crosby endeared himself to a place of political prominence, notoriety and position. Krzyzaniak is now spending years in a federal penitentiary in Minnesota as a direct result of his Palmwood scheme.

Mayor Parks recently announced she attended a meeting with Itai Carodona, posting on Facebook that she was very impressed.
