UK Author Makes Startling Revelation about Domestic Abuse Issues

CERET, France - Oct. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Oloron-Sainte-Marie, France  - 29th October 2014 – Annette Young  announced that she has been a victim of domestic abuse, adding her voice to the Domestic Violence campaign to create awareness for victims of physical or emotional abuse.

Her new book, Emotional Abuse – Get Out Of My Head and Out of My Bed, reveals the gritty truth of relationships behind closed doors looking at manipulative partners, the psychological effects and the long-term impact of destructive relationships and controlling behaviours.

Young states, “This book has been a long time coming. Abusive behaviours and living in the midst of a sometimes volatile or condescending relationship has a dire impact on self-esteem and only serves to strip away the layers of the woman’s identity. My own experiences nearly destroyed me at times.  It’s a secretive, manipulative life and women are often ashamed to come forward or to speak out and reveal the ugly truth of life with an abuser.”

Young is keen to point out that many people think that domestic abuse is only about physical fear and violence but emotional abuse inflicts its own pain and torment. Emotional abuse is a controversial subject and a silent, heinous crime but ultimately, domestic abuse is all about control.

Young’s book strips back the layers of destructive relationships, providing never-before-told personal revelations and case studies to support the self-help material, revealing the complexities of life with an abuser. The book is designed to increase awareness, break down the barriers of secrecy and to offer hope for those who need support in recovering from their experiences of domestic abuse.

Young currently lives in France and is planning a series of self-help books to help other victims break free from abuse and to aid healing and recovery. Young is also working on a website to provide a visual self-help portal called Break Free from Abuse.
