Oct. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- AMMAN, Jordan – October 26, 2014 – In celebration of Hilton Worldwide’s third annual Global Week of Service, Oct. 19 – 25, 60 volunteers from King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre (KHBTCC) managed by Hilton have come together to build a safe and scenic garden at Al-Sweimeh School for Girls in the Dead Sea over the period of two days.

Community service is an integral part of Hilton Worldwide’s culture, and acts of volunteerism occur year-round across the portfolio of 12 distinct brands and more than 4,200 properties.

Hilton KHBTCC’s efforts are part of Hilton Worldwide’s week-long annual celebration of the company’s commitment to serving and enriching the communities where we live, work and travel. This year, Hilton Worldwide participated in more than 3,000 hands-on service projects globally.

“At KHBTCC, we strive to leave a long-lasting footprint wherever we land, applying the pillars of Hilton Worldwide’s Travel with Purpose, which include strengthening communities and encouraging sustainable lives,” said Kamel Ajami, Hilton Worldwide country manager – Jordan. “Developing the garden at Al-Sweimeh School for Girls comes as affirmation of our commitment to supporting the school and our local community in hopes of creating a safe and stimulating environment for education. We hope to continue building on the strong relationship between Hilton KHBTCC and Al-Sweimeh School for Girls, where our team members have previously volunteered and become familiar with the school’s needs.”

Hilton KHBTCC also collaborated with the artist Shahad Dawood, one of the young talents in Jordan, to paint the school’s walls and leave their creative touches on them.

In addition to renovating the school’s entrance, Hilton KHBTCC also launched a contest where 30 students from the school were invited to write a tourism-related story about the Dead Sea or events occurring at the centre, after touring it and learning about its offerings and facilities. Students will present their stories in front of a panel of judges, at the end of which the winner will be awarded during a ceremony at the centre in November.

On this regard, Heba Adwan, principal of Al-Sweimeh School for Girls, expressed her appreciation of Hilton KHBTCC’s initiative at the school. She said, “King Hussein Bin Talal Convention Centre managed by Hilton continues to show its support for the school and dedication to empower the local community.” Adwan added, “This project will add an atmosphere of joy and productivity for both students and teachers in the school. We look forward to working on other projects with Hilton KHBTCC in the future.”
