Who the Teachers' Union Wants on Santa Clara School Boarad

Oct. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Do you ever wonder who is paying for your local school board elections?

Anyone who wants to go to the primary sources can go on the Santa Clara County  Registrar of Voters website, go to the button for candidates, go to  campaign finance reports, and search on the public portal for candidate names and United Teachers of Santa Clara Political Action Committee.

The latest (as of Oct. 18th) campaign finance forms show that the teachers’ union spent $3715 for each of the candidates they endorse (Jodi Muirhead, Noelani Sallings, and Andy Raterman). The money was spent on flyers, a mailer, and a Santa Clara Weekly ad. The money was not given directly to the candidates, but was spent by the United Teachers of Santa Clara Political Action Committee on behalf of the candidates.

The campaign finance reports also show that the state CTA (California Teachers Association) gave the local Santa Clara CTA PAC $9750.  So the state CTA is trying to control the Santa Clara Unified School District school board elections by giving money to the local CTA unit.
